When entering into a structured settlement agreement you have to consider a lot of things. These agreements are often entered to settle a tort case, pay off debts and pay lottery winnings in installment basis. These settlements are oftentimes created by the purchase of one or several annuities that guarantees the payment. But even if the settlement is guaranteed, you as a claimant may be ripped off. If the settlement was purchase to pay off debts or pay off a tort case, the insurer or the respondent of the case will try to pay the least amount. He or she will look for a company that will agree to get the most out the settlement.

Third, companies charging you even if nothing is done yet. You will be promised a lot of things and told that everything is in order then you will be asked to pay such and such fee.
Fourth when a company or a third party investor buys your settlement but could not pay you outright. Some company or individual investor may not have enough resources or funds to pay you.
The fifth sign of a settlement rip off is hidden charges and fees on your payments. You may be overwhelmed by all the sweet talks and promises that you were not able to scrutinize the contract. There may be clauses that you are not aware off and you were not informed.
Your structural agreement assures you that you have regular payments. Your agreement not only is a boon to you but may also be a bane. A lot of con artist and scammers will make you a target. As soon as you put your guard down they will flock to you like ants to sugar. You have to be vigilant and wary not to be an easy mark.
